Luna Lovegood is a witch, currently enrolled in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. She is a member of Ravenclaw House, marking her as an individual who defined by “wit and learning,” but with a personality so off-kilter, her intelligence can be difficult to notice.

Some people march to their own drummers. Luna Lovegood marches to her own glockenspiel ensemble. She is a dreamy girl and, depending on whom you ask, more than a little crazy. Still, though she often gives the impression that her head is somewhere off in the clouds, she misses little, and is said to have “a knack for embarrassing honesty.”

Luna is something of a loner, and is often the butt of teasing from her schoolmates, who refer to her as “Loony” and often hide her things. For her part, Luna takes it all in stride and bears them no malice. Unless her father is maligned, she is not given to lose her temper.

Luna’s mother died when she was nine while experimenting with a spell – an unfortunate accident which Luna witnessed. She and her father, Xenophilius Lovegood, live outside the village of Ottery St. Catchpole, and are quite close. Even for the wizarding world, the Lovegoods are not exactly mainstream. Xenophilius is the editor of The Quibbler (the wizarding world’s Weekly World News) and is a proponent of everything from political conspiracy theories to the existence of the elusive nargle.

Luna has waist-length, pale blonde hair and pale silvery eyes. She has a soft voice, and speaks with an Irish lilt. She has a penchant for odd outfits (when not in uniform) and odder jewelry, including radish earrings, a beetle ring, and a butter beer cork on a ribbon around her neck (an effective anti-nargle charm).

She is currently fourteen years old, in her fourth year, which corresponds with the events of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

***Note***: Though Luna has appeared in Milliways in the past, this version of Luna can be considered a reboot. She came into the bar for the first time on August 3, 2010 (Mun Time) and has no memories of any prior experiences in Milliways.
